Happy Thanksgiving!
Posted on November 25, 2009
I have to admit Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It makes me jump with joy. I’ve always loved getting together with people I love and eating great food. My favorite combination. Its been a tradition as long as I can remember that my family all gathers for every holiday. This year I’m hosting which means I need to be prepared to feed about 40 people. While this may sound scary to some of you, I am in my element. Well the cooking part is but I dread cleaning my house. I want everything to be perfect but that’s faaaaar from reality. 3 little kids and a busy life pretty much guarantees house cleaning duties come last. So my biggest chore is to make the house presentable and know that my loved ones won’t judge (or they can eat their turkey in the street!). Its Thanksgiving Eve and I have brined and rubbed the bird, cooked a sweet potato pie with snicker doodle crust, made pretzel jello, sweet potato casserole, chopped tons of celery and onions for the stuffing, roasted 6 large heads of garlic, did about 10 loads of laundry, cleaned under the kids beds…ok, enough, I’m exhausted and bored telling you all about it. I still have to get the brisket ready so that it can be turned on at 3 a.m. Is my house clean? Not even close. See, still obsession about the house
As exhausted as I am I don’t think sleep will come easy because yes, I am just that excited.
I have so much to be thankful for. Most importantly I have so many people that I love and that love me in return. I am thankful everyday of my life for the people who have touched my life, some have been brief others I can’t shake.
What’s a post without a picture or several? Recently I went on a tour with my daughters Brownie Troop at The Parade Company. WOW!! I highly recommend going if you get the chance. We got to see a ton of floats and paper mache heads. Because we toured right before Detroit’s Thanksgiving Parade, we also got to see people building floats that will be in the parade. I really can’t express how cool this place is. On the day we were there they were having Balloon School. People were out in the parking lot with giant balloons learning how to walk them in the parade and it looked like so much fun. There are a lot of opportunities for volunteering at The Parade Company and its something I’m going to do.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with loved ones and good food!

happy heart {Michigan vacation photographer}
Posted on September 4, 2009
I’ve been so busy this summer that I haven’t had time to enjoy it as much as I should. Every year dear friends of mine invite us to visit them while they vacation in Port Austin and every year I’m too busy to go. This year they hatched in ingenious plan, they told me they wanted beach sessions. Of course I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to photograph some of the people I love most at the beach (sneak peeks from their session to come later) so off I went. As a bonus, I got to bring the kids and spend some much needed time relaxing. We had such a great time. We spent time at the beach, went putt-putt golfing, swam in a heated pool, ate delicious food, watched the sunset and finished the night around a fire. All that and I had time to take like 800 pictures! lol Next year we may give in and actually go for the whole week. Thank you guys for getting me up there, it was some much needed time away. xoxo Krista

my family session
Posted on August 26, 2009
Yes, I finally got on the other side of the lens! A few weeks ago a dear friend of mine was in town from South Carolina and she did our family session. The last time we had family pictures taken, my oldest daughter wasn’t even 1. Shame on me! I finally got over my hang ups and took my own advice. I realized that the most important thing was not how I looked in the pictures but that my kids, someday hopefully grandkids and so on, had pictures of me to look at. Well April has a magic lens because she made me look good! We totally enjoyed our session. We giggled, the kids loved her and like most families, we even had a moment of craziness where I found myself yelling at my kids
And now I’ve been given a sneak peek and I can tell you if I were to get no more pictures from April than the ones on her blog, I would still be in heaven. April, you have no idea the gift you have given me, it is truly a blessing to be on this side of the lens, thank you just doesn’t seem like enough. Ok, I’ve gone on long enough, go on over to April’s blog and check them out for yourself!

sun kissed {Fraser, Michigan Senior Photographer}

So weeks ago I had this dream about a wheat field with the golden glow of sunset. Well toward the end of my session with Dani, I spy a golden field of, well not wheat but close enough, and I knew it would be an amazing spot to photograph her. This little field is up on a hill over looking a park and while I was clicking away we apparently drew a crowd. They thought Dani was a “real” model. We heard a couple of cat calls that we ignored and later found out they were actually coming from a 3 year old boy, he kept yelling “yeah baby!” Boy they start young! And Dani, you most certainly are a “real” model ~ you rocked it and I had a great time. Enjoy! Krista

Hannah {Michigan pet photographer?}
Posted on August 20, 2009
I can hear you, “pets Krista, you photograph pets?” Well my session with Miss Hannah was my first with man’s best friend. In this case, Hannah is woman’s best friend
And I really enjoyed it. Hannah’s session was much like a 2 year olds. First she had to sniff my entire house, then she didn’t want to stay where she was supposed to, when I tried to get her to look at the camera , she came running towards me and she was given treats the entire session in an attempt to get her to do what we wanted. Yep, typical session with a 2 year old.
Hannah rewarded me with full on face lickin’ and I didn’t even mind.

the baby that wouldn’t sleep {Michigan newborn photographer}
Posted on August 2, 2009
Yep, she was a tricky one. My first newborn that wouldn’t sleep. Scratch that, her sister wouldn’t sleep when I did her newborn session 2 years ago! Well at least when she was awake, she was just chill. For some reason she makes me think of pink cotton candy. Maybe because I love sugary cotton candy almost as much as I love sugary newborns
Miss Cotton Candy did eventually fall asleep, pretty much as we were finishing up her session. I think she probably slept good for the next 2 days!

chocolate eyes {Michigan child photographer}
Posted on July 28, 2009
Really, what girl doesn’t love chocolate?!? Ok, so I can’t eat their eyes (gross!) but they still melt me and make me smile the same way chocolate does
Yep, I just love their big brown eyes, sigh…not to mention their super contagious smiles. Their mama, Kristie, rocks my hair and puts up with my ever changing moods and I always look like a rockstar when I leave her salon. If you are looking for a fantastic stylist you must call her at Emile Salon! Speaking of, my grays are starting to peek through, LOL!

brothers {Michigan Child Photography}
Posted on June 25, 2009
One of the things I love about my job is meeting all the little people. These 2 guys were no exception. They both greeted me so sweetly with big smiles. I commented to big brother that he seemed ready to have his picture taken and he responded with “I was born ready” and I knew it was going to be a great session! It was hot and sweaty but the boys were troopers and I enjoyed our time together. Check out these little faces and big beautiful eyes, melt my heart!

Happy Father’s Day!
Posted on June 21, 2009
One of my favorite things to do is to watch my husband and our kids interact. I love listening to them giggle because he plays with them like he is still their age, and that he isn’t ashamed to get down on his knees and pretend to be the prince to my daughter’s princess. My heart melts when they snuggle with him, which usually turns into a wrestling match. I beam with pride when they pretend they are just like him. When I complain that our son is growing too fast he reminds me “momma, I got to grow up to be big and strong, just like daddy.” The girls believe he is capable of fixing anything (which he is). He is an amazing father and the kids refer to him as “the best daddy ever!” (unless they are in trouble for something…LOL) Happy Father’s Day to my husband, my own dad and my father-in-law and all the other best daddies ever out there! I hope you all enjoy your special day.
